Current Power builds electrical and automation equipment for Drilling Rigs. The drives, switchgear, controls, and other equipment are specifically designed for drilling applications. They are built for reliability, ease of maintenance, and small space requirements.
For offshore rigs, the design, manufacturing, and testing can meet the requirements of all major offshore classification entities including ABS, DNV, LR, BV, and USCG. We can also supply equipment built to IEC standards with CE marking, when required.
For land rigs, Current Power packages drives, switchgear, and motor control centers in portable power houses with plug panel connections.
AUTOMATED DRILLING CONTROLS
Our Drilling Controls use standard PLCs, I/O modules, and HMI touchscreens. The drilling systems can be supplied with redundant processors and communication links. These systems are designed to be operated from either stand-up consoles or drilling chairs with HMI touchscreens that are simple and intuitive to use. Typical automation functions include:
• Auto-drilling and trending
• Power management systems & generator monitoring
• Automatic control of auxiliary motors & braking
• Alarm, data, and event logging
• Drawworks tripping & reaming sequencing
• Mud pump synchronizing and flow monitoring
• Top drive control
VFD - AC DRIVES
Current Power manufactures high-power motor drives that are designed for reliability and maintainability.
• Air Cooled & Water Cooled
• Low Voltage & Medium Voltage
• Common DC Bus or Individual Drives
• Ratings up to 8000HP
The power bridges are modular for ease of serviceability. The drives are supplied with digital controllers that are programmed to suit specific applications including mud pumps, drawworks, and top drives.
SWITCHGEAR & MOTOR CONTROL CENTERS
Our switchboards and motor control centers are built to customer specifications and application requirements. Offshore switchboards are fabricated to meet the requirements of the environment, marine
classification societies, and a variety of electrical standards (e.g. IEC, CSA, ANSI, IEEE). The switchboards are available with the following ratings.
• Voltages up to 13.8kV
• Current ratings up to 8,000A
• Fault current ratings up to 100kA.
• Supply frequencies of 50Hz and 60Hz
Current Power manufactures generator controls for all of the major engine and generator manufacturers. Typical controls include those required for synchronizing paralleled generators, load sharing, power management, and fuel efficiency.
